Workshop Overview
This workshop provides learners with a foundational understanding of the theory and practice of counselling and psychotherapy. Beyond theoretical knowledge, participants will acquire the essential core skills necessary to practise counselling and psychotherapy effectively.
Designed for individuals who are not currently practising mental health clinicians, this workshop serves as a prerequisite for those intending to enrol in the advance (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, CBT) workshop. It is also suitable for learners who wish to pursue a career in counselling and psychotherapy but have not undergone prior formal training.
In particular, the workshop is ideal for aspiring Associate Psychologists (Counselling) who are passionate about supporting others in achieving greater meaning and fulfilment in life.
Upon completion, learners with a relevant mental health qualification (e.g., a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology) will be equipped with the core competencies required to begin practising as a Counselling Psychotherapist.
Workshop Entry Requirements
Applicants should meet any one of the following criteria:
• Undergraduate students currently enrolled in psychology-related fields (e.g. counselling, psychology, social work)
• Learners who hold a bachelor’s degree in a mental health-related discipline (e.g. counselling, psychology, social work)
Learners who do not meet the above requirements are not eligible for this masterclass, and may instead consider the Basic Counselling Skills workshop. Please note that the Basic Counselling Skills workshop is a standalone (terminal) workshop and does not serve as a pathway to this masterclass.
Professionals who are registered with the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC), the Singapore Register of Psychologists (SRP), or the Singapore Association of Social Workers (SASW) may proceed directly to the Level 2 workshops.
